There are lots of different ways to get more email subscribers through your website. Some are obvious, others a bit more subtle.
In this post I want to look at an often overlooked opportunity – redirecting to a thank-you page after someone fills out your contact form.
Get More Email Subscribers by Redirecting Your Contact Form to a Thank You Page
If you use the Contact Form 7 plugin on your site, this one’s just for you!
It’s a free plugin that allows you to create forms for enquiries or even surveys.
Setting up a contact form is all well and good, but here’s a little trick. Instead of just leaving it at the generic ‘thank you’ that pops up after they fill out your form, how about adding one more step?
Redirect your visitors to a ‘Thank You’ page you’ve specifically set up.
This Thank You page doesn’t need to be anything fancy, but it’s a good opportunity to capitalise on their visit to your website.
Here’s where you can get more email subscribers by offering an opt-in (if it’s relevant and makes sense in context of what they had just been doing).
Other ideas are you can use:
- Ask them to your Facebook group
- Encourage them to follow your social media accounts
- Send them to blog posts relevant to what they made the enquiry about
- Introduce them to a different offer or service
So, that’s the theory. How about the practice?
How to set up Contact Form 7 to Redirect to a Thank You Page
When you set up your forms, you may not have noticed a tab at the end, called Additional Settings.
It’s a place where you can add some extra code, and that’s where you can set up your redirect.
To make it easier for you – here’s what the code looks like:
on_sent_ok: “location = ‘http://yourwebtoolkit.com/starter-website-thank-you/‘;”
That bit up there in bold, is where you replace it with YOUR thank you page URL.
And that’s it!
